Alberta DRES Overview
Money for Disability Related Employment Support (DRES) is available to help Albertans resolve obstacles to schooling or employment that are exacerbated by a disability.
Supports of various kinds
DRES is divided into three sections.
Job search assistance
Job search assistance is available to Albertans aged 16 and over who have a disability.
A sign language interpreter can be provided so that a person with a hearing disability may attend a work interview.
Supports in the workplace
Workplace services assist Albertans aged 16 and up with disabilities in making good transitions into the workforce, maintaining jobs, and enabling maximum inclusion in the workforce.
A career mentor, worksite modifications, or assistive equipment are examples of possible supports.
Educational assistance
Learners with disabilities who are outside of the kindergarten through grade 12 school system will benefit from education services. Via post-secondary schooling, basic skill preparation, academic enhancement, or labor force services, these resources prepare learners with disabilities for jobs.
Sign language interpreters, tutors, note takers, and assistive devices such as software applications tailored to the disorder are examples of possible supports.
DRES Eligibility
Individuals must meet the following criteria to be eligible for DRES supports and/or services:
- A reported and registered lifelong or recurring disability that prevents you from getting an education, training, or job.
- Ome a native of Alberta.
- Under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a refugee.
- Be able to operate and/or study lawfully in Canada.
- Have plan to work.
- DRES eligibility is determined by an Employability Assessment and a Service Plan.
